I first played Hypnospace Outlaw in 2022, but it feels like ages ago. It's basically a 90's internet simulator where you're a moderator for an internet service people use in their sleep. You browse through webpages looking for violations, but through these webpages you discover pages loaded with personality and quirks. The pages also change as the game progresses so storylines unfold through the webpages. It's all super interesting and there's so much you can miss on a first playthrough, and so much to gain playing it again.
I was born in the year 2001. I grew up with the internet, but the version of it presented in the game I was just slightly too young to experience in it's prime. By the time I was reaching adolescence, everyone had a Facebook already. I wish I had gotten to experience the web fully during this era. It seemed simpler in those days, even though I'm sure there were it's own complexities. Perhaps this longing for the past and nostalgia I barely have is why I've made this website and cling onto tech I hardly used as a child.
